An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated QHSE Engineer to join our QHSE Department in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The QHSE engineer team operates worldwide in a team that currently consists of 14 colleagues. The QHSE engineers work in the QHSE department, consisting of some 30 colleagues in total. We appreciate an international team setting and with the representation of 13 different nationalities on our team, it is what characterises our department; together we build our QHSE culture. We value teamwork, celebrate our successes and support each other in achieving our deliverables. Your direct team members will be situated in Kuala Lumpur, operating in a multi-discipline office set-up. You will be supporting departments throughout the company, but also project and proposal teams. You will be maintaining close contact with the vessel on-board (QHSE) teams as well.

Your role

The QHSE Engineer develops procedures and advises on the implementation of the management system and on the specific project requirements to our sites, yards and fleet. You will closely work with our operational and project management teams, but also directly with your client counterparts. You will support the review, design and implementation of the management system on a corporate level. Typically, a QHSE engineer is assigned to projects (Pipe lay and/or Heavy Lift) and to a vessel. You will have frequent contact with our offshore safety officers and vessel management teams (VMT\xe2\x80\x99s). In this role, you report to the Unit Head QHSE and together, you will be promoting the Allsafe behavioural principles. You can imagine that our vessels and projects are located on multiple international locations, so vessel visits and attending project meetings abroad are part of your scope.   • Support and advise the Project Manager and corporate discipline engineers on QHSE matters on a project basis
  • Support and advise vessel based Safety Officers and VMT\xe2\x80\x99s on QHSE matters
  • Monitor compliance with corporate and project QHSE requirements and locally applicable rules and regulations
  • Liaise with client QHSE professionals on the implementation of project specific QHSE requirements
  • Lead HAZID and risk assessments for both commercial and internal projects, and follow up on actions raised
  • Review project environmental impact assessments and advise on their implementation
  • Review incoming tenders
  • Liaise on incident reporting
  • Work on corporate improvement initiatives

What we expect from you

  • 3 years experience in the field of health, safety and environment, preferably in the offshore/marine industry
  • BSc/MSc degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety and Security management or equivalent
  • Familiarity with ISM, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001
  • Familiarity with HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, or other risk assessment techniques
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis methods
