The Asia Pacific region has clear 2026 targets related to revenue growth, market position and EBIT performance.

Our APAC region is split into several product-based business units, including a Consumer BU (B2C/B2B2C), Commercial BU (B2B) and a OTR (Off-The-Road) & Aviation business. We sell through a combination of distributor, retail, online and concession-based channels. Asia Pacific is segmented into geographic \'clusters\' including China, Japan, India, Australasia and ASEAN markets (Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia & Philippines).

THE OPPORTUNITY - SALES DIRECTOR, MALAYSIA

Goodyear is looking to appoint a highly motivated, growth-focused and commercial leader as Sales Director for Goodyear in Malaysia. As the Sales Director, this person will be a critical part of the Malaysia leadership group team, working collaboratively to develop sales strategies, introduce new products, develop our people and achieve growth and gross margin targets.

Goodyear has a rich history in Malaysia spanning more than 50 years. We opened a factory in 1972 and have been selling high-quality tire products ever since. Malaysia is the largest market in our ASEAN cluster and considered a Centre of Excellent (CoE) where we often pilot new ideas and products. We go-to-market through a diversified channel of direct retail, distributor and eCommerce platforms giving us a broad and deep reach across the country and direct connectivity to our consumers.

The Sales Director will be a leader in our Malaysia organization, responsible developing, aligning and executing on our strategy and creating a collaborative and high-performance environment for our people.

The role is based out of our office in Shah Alam and reports to the Managing Director, Malaysia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Sales Director for Malaysia, you are accountable for the development of a robust sales strategy and the delivery of sales volume and gross margin performance. To drive results, this person must build strong teams and nurture close relationships with customers to understand what is needed to win and meet our objectives.

Key Responsibilities for the role include:

Drive Growth & Increase Brand Equity

  • Consolidates and executes Sales AOP (Annual Operating Plan)
  • Regularly track the performance of Sales, gross profit per brand, channel, and customer
  • Coordinates with Supply Chain and Marketing to provide accurate forecast and ensure adequate supply capability
Distribution Growth & Channel Development
  • Develops the distribution strategy and ensures execution of business targets, monitors distribution, channel penetration and business growth through distribution optimization.
Analyze Market Trends & Competitor Activity
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of strategic and tactical sales activities in order to meet market demands. Collaborates and influences Marketing and Pricing to implement and control pricing policy.
Sales Force Development
  • Develops - in cooperation and with support of HR - the sales force to become best-in-class consultant with the focus on the right balance of sell-in/sell-out activities.
  • Motivate, develop and coach your team; advise on problem-solving solution; monitor/evaluate performance; evaluate, review and propose subordinate performance evaluation, promotion, recognition and competency assessments in order to ensure a high-performance and engaged team.
REPORTING, TEAM & KEY INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • Direct reporting to the Managing Director, Malaysia with high exposure and accountability to the Managing Director, ASEAN Countries.
  • Manage a team of 3 Regional Sales Managers, 1 Operation Manager, 1 Business Development Manager, Fleet Account Manager and Commercial Manager.
  • You will work closely with the APAC regional leadership team, the ASEAN leadership and other members of the Malaysia management team. Key internal peer relationships include Marketing, HR, Finance, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.
KEY EXPERIENCES DESIRED
  • 10 - 15 years experience in sales and sales management in a multi-channel environment.
  • Deep knowledge & understanding of Consumer products businesses (B2C/B2B2C) with strong appreciation for products with a brand proposition driven by technical performance, durability and quality. Could include tire, automotive or other consumer durable products.
  • People Leadership & Talent Development - track record of nurturing talent and leading high performing teams. Experienced as a direct people manager, able to create targets and hold people accountable in a way that drives performance and creates a winning culture.
  • Multinational Corporate Exposure - candidates must be experienced in working in a large, complex global organization; able to successfully navigate and influence at a local, regional and global level.
  • University degree in business administration/management, finance, sales & marketing, engineering. Master\'s degree in a Business, Sales, Marketing discipline would be advantageous.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence others. Must present with gravitas and credibility that engages audiences; a compelling storyteller, able to influence and build relationships based on credibility and respect.
  • Able to work in a matrix organization with local, regional and external stakeholders
  • Direct experience managing a commercial P&L
  • Direct experience in leading large sales team, and working closely with other functions (marketing, finance, product, supply chain)
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, able to distill complex issues into simple and concise messages.
  • A good team player with potential to move into bigger roles, with short-term/long-term mobility to be relocated to other countries will be a plus.
  • Strategic Thinking: ability to see bigger picture and develop/execute long-term strategic plan. Proven track record in developing and implementing Route to Market with Customer/Consumer/Market mindset.
  • Resilience, Agility & Courage: perseveres and stays focused during complex or difficult conditions. Adapts rapidly to complex problems/opportunities. Able to stand up for values, make decisions, take decisive action and, if need be, challenge and revamp existing structures and views for continuous improvement.
