Summary

We are currently growing our Industrial and Smart Energy (ISE) team. We are seeking a business leader to help drive the growth and shape the future of a collaborative, high-performance, growth-oriented business unit.

We are looking for a passionate and results-oriented leader to be part of our global Advanced Technology Solutions organization. The Business Development Consultant will be a strategic account owner, developing specific market strategies and leading the extended organization to develop and grow accounts supporting the Industrial and Smart Energy strategy.

The ISE market is complex and evolving, and customer requirements are ever-changing. We seek a highly motivated and savvy business leader to build high-performing teams and influence stakeholders to attain and grow multiple accounts.

This role is a prime development opportunity for those interested in developing their entrepreneurial and business growth skills while shaping the future of a new business unit.

Advanced expertise in the area of business management and business development; applies expertise cross-functionally. Work is guided by broad company objectives and corporate policy. Incumbents oversee very complex, or multiple complex projects, including cross-functional projects where a high degree of judgment and independence are required in developing solutions and resolving unusual problem situations. Incumbents have decision-making authority and autonomy to deliver on goals of department/function, as applicable. Influences others cross-functionally to ensure functional or corporate goals met, and resolves conflicts in an effective manner. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals may result in loss of revenue and may have a significant financial impact on the region or corporate profitability. May lead a regional functional area or project team with significant impact on company results. An expert in their field, provides ideas, opinions and advice to others cross functionally. Normally paired with a Sales Consultant 2 to form an account team, acts in conjunction with Sales to determine new methods and procedures. Builds cross-functional relationships where persuasive skills, negotiation skills, and considerable tact are required to gain support. Maintains positive relationships with key customers who have a significant impact on the success of the organization. Primary business interface with customer executives on issues related to business management. Interactions normally involve controversial situations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading executives internally and externally. Accountable for overall strategic business management within assigned accounts.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Develop market sub-segment strategies, including synthesizing market trends and needs to develop go-to-market strategies, target accounts, and value propositions.
  • Responsible for providing cross-functional and cross-regional leadership to develop and execute global account strategies for profitable growth.
  • Develops and directly owns the customer relationship at an executive level, monitoring customer satisfaction across all business elements.
  • Develops and negotiates customer contracts
  • Directly engages with sales and business development to create and present insight-led customer proposals; performs market analysis and develops specific customer value propositions, including unsolicited approaches.
  • Works with the ISE Sales Leaders and team to identify funnel opportunities and growth strategies
  • Ownership of the global financial P&L and balance sheet performance; provides global account direction to all stakeholders, including operations, supply chain, and finance, to ensure account growth and performance
  • Supports three-year strategy and planning for specific market sub-segment and customers
  • Develops and deploys multiple service engagement models
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, relationship management and business development skills
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills
  • Thorough knowledge of operations, including manufacturing processes, schedules and scheduling requirements, supply chain, product development project management, logistics and product delivery methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of product pricing, contracts and contract negotiations
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve results
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, detailed and complex projects
  • Proven track record in account management
  • Ability to understand Profit and Loss modelling and sales impacts to improving customer financials
  • Value-based solution selling, business judgment, negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Experience working and communicating with senior-level executives.
  • Exceptional ability to work with others as part of a cross-functional team
  • Experience working with vast, remote cross-functional teams in large matrixed organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to have successfully carried sales, revenue or operational quota gains
Typical Experience
  • Eleven to Fourteen years of applicable experience , including a minimum of 4 years of field sales experience and a minimum of 4 years business development/management experience. Prior Sales Management experience is desirable.
Typical Education
  • Bachelor\'s degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
