Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently bidding for a major Oil & Gas project, which is expected to be awarded soon. If successful, Wood would be looking to hire Senior or Discipline level Technical Safety / Process Safety Engineers with extensive experience in Safety Design principle to join our Operations Services Asia Pac (Upstream business) team in Kuala Lumpur.

In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Lead Technical Safety Engineer and be working across FEED / Execution. Your focus will be to build positive relationships with all stakeholders and you will be guided in your career journey to effectively:

  • performing formal safety assessment (FSA) studies
  • providing support for risk-based decision-making,
  • applying knowledge of safety in design principles to the design/modification of petroleum production/processing facilities
  • ensuring compliance with safety regulations in all aspects of process safety design
  • understand the needs and perspectives of the client
  • managing yourself to produce deliverables in accordance with the work budget and schedule
  • guiding less experienced engineers
  • identifying potential weaknesses in existing practices and tools and initiate improvement processes.

Skills / Qualifications

Suitably qualified with an Engineering degree from a recognised institution, ideally you will have proven and relevant experience in the in the oil and gas, petrochemical industry working within the engineering EPCM sector.

You must also have full working rights to legally work in this country / location.

In addition, you will have:
  • 6 or more years of experience in formal safety assessment (FSA) studies, risk-based decision-making and the design/specification of safety critical equipment and systems
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and applicable industry codes / standards
  • Excellent report writing and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • A \xe2\x80\x9csolutions mindset\xe2\x80\x9d and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities
