The Blending Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily blending operations to ensure all cosmetic products (skincare, lotion, cream, shampoo, toner, serum, etc.) are produced according to formulation, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role ensures smooth workflow, manpower coordination, equipment readiness, and accurate reporting.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Production & Blending Operations
Ensure all blending activities follow approved formulations, SOPs, batch manufacturing records (BMR) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Plan and prepare raw materials according to daily/weekly production schedules.
Supervise the blending process including heating, cooling, emulsification, mixing and homogenizing.
Ensure machine settings (RPM, time, temperature) are accurate based on formulation.
Conduct in-process checks such as pH, viscosity, texture, colour, and density.
Coordinate with QC to obtain approval before transferring batches to filling lines.
Ensure accuracy of batch yield and minimize production loss/wastage.
B. Manpower Supervision
Assign tasks to Blending Operators and General Workers.
Monitor staff performance, discipline, attendance, safety compliance.
Train new operators on equipment usage, safety procedures & blending techniques.
Motivate team to achieve high productivity and maintain cleanliness.
C. Equipment Management
Ensure all blending tanks, mixers, pumps, and utilities are in good working condition.
Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate with Maintenance Department for repairs.
Verify equipment calibration and cleanliness before starting production.
Ensure proper CIP (Cleaning-in-Place) and sanitation procedures are followed.
D. Documentation & Reporting
Complete and verify BMR/BPR (Batch Production Record) accurately.
Record daily production output, raw material consumption and downtime.
Report any deviation, non-conformance, or batch failure to Production Manager and QC.
Ensure traceability of all raw materials and batches produced.
E. Safety, Hygiene & Compliance
Enforce GMP, 5S, ISO, and Halal requirements during blending operations.
Ensure proper PPE usage by all team members.
Maintain high levels of hygiene and prevent cross-contamination.
Implement safety protocols for handling chemicals, fragrances, powders, and liquids.
3. Job Requirements
Minimum Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing, Science, or related field.
At least
2-4 years experience
in blending/mixing, preferably in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food, or chemical industry.
Strong knowledge of mixing methods: emulsification, dispersion, heating, cooling, homogenizing.
Able to read formulations, SOPs, BMR documents.
Good leadership and communication skills.
Physically fit; able to handle heavy raw materials, equipment, and standing long hours.
Able to work overtime and shift when required.
