A Snapshot of Your Day

The Welding Engineer\'s Day starts either in an office environment, on-site or in a tooling facility. You are responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications to understand requirements with regards to welding and/or welding equipment maintenance. You will work with a team of welders, mechanical/ electrical engineers providing tasks, structuring the day, ensuring timely, and safe implementation of tasks with the required quality level. You will have created welding procedures or maintenance procedures, aligned specific requirements with your subcontractors, Backoffice, Project Management and Competence Center. You might engage in the actual welding process or provide guidance to welders, ensuring that the welds are of quality and meet the required standards using different welding technologies on materials and components. Throughout the day, you are required to communicate with project manager, outage manager, other engineers, or team members to coordinate tasks, resolve technical issues, and ensure that the welding works aligns with the overall project timeline and objectives.

Aside from on-site activities, you may be involved in research and development activities to explore new welding techniques, materials, or technologies to improve efficiency and quality in your field. You will be working closely with the tooling facilities for maintenance of the welding equipment taking ownership of the welding equipment in your area of responsibility, ensuring that the tooling is in proper working condition and quality. Safety is a constant consideration throughout your day, ensuring that all welding activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices to minimize the risk of accidents or hazards in the workplace.

How You\'ll Make an Impact

  • Review project specifications, Codes & standards to develop welding procedures to guide welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post- heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints and complex post- heating requirements.
  • Develop and maintain corporate welding procedures (WPS) and welder performance qualification records (WPQRs)
  • Develop, qualify, write, and certify PQR(s) and WPS(s) for internal stakeholders on-site welding activities.
  • Provide technical support in accordance with industry standards, specifications, and codes such as ASME, AWS, and API.
  • Conduct and coordinate root cause analysis and welding related issues.
  • Provide technical support and witness welder performance testing.
  • Operate customized mechanized welding system e.g., welding robot to perform complex filed repairs and component replacement installations.
  • Manages welding equipment in the tooling facilities including customized machine welding system, fixtures for fitness of use.
  • Plans equipment, manpower required to support on-site welding activities and aligns with FS Planning Engineers, Project Management and Center of Competence.
  • Evaluate suppliers welding procedures for technical adequacy and code conformance for specific job application.
  • Provide on-site technical support and carries out specialized welding processes by leading a small team of welder and technicians.
  • Participate in ongoing training, attend conference or seminars, and stay updated on the latest industry advancements and best practices.
What You Bring

\xc2\xb7 Minimum of 5 years\' experience in welding technologies in practical application, and scientific background as a licensed Welder/ Welding Supervisor/ Engineer in accordance with international standards.

\xc2\xb7 Candidate from Power Plant, Oil & Gas, Automation, Transportation industry would have added advantage.

\xc2\xb7 Certified IIW Welding specialist (IWS)/ technician (IWT)/ welding engineer (IWE) - (Workscope acc. DIN EN ISO 14731)

\xc2\xb7 Comprehensive knowledge (theoretical/ practical) in welding process 111/141/135

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of typical standards and regulations (e.g., AD 2000/ DIN EN 13480/ DIN EN ISO 3834/ etc.) and application

\xc2\xb7 Ability to identify correct selection of welding equipment, consumables, and gas mixtures acc. instructions.

\xc2\xb7 General profound understanding of technical equipment and ability to work with/based on technical documentation.

\xc2\xb7 Pro-active, problem solving and ready to work attitude, readiness to take additional tasks to improve the status Quo if needed.

\xc2\xb7 Understanding of relevant industry standards for Quality and HSE

\xc2\xb7 Fluent in English Language (Written & Oral), other languages are beneficial.

\xc2\xb7 Strong analytical skills with an affinity to technology and innovation in the service industry combined with a proactive and convincing attitude.

\xc2\xb7 Team player with high level of resilience, the ability to work independently under pressure, multitask and focus on problem solving in a complex environment collaborating with international teams.

\xc2\xb7 Willing to travel internationally on short notice and work flexible hours.
