Job Description

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to join our team in Malaysia. The individual will be responsible for implementing, overseeing, and managing the EHS programs at our Malaysia facility. This role includes leading and developing a team of EHS professionals to ensure a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. Familiarity with manufacturing environments is highly desired. This full-time position is based at Western Digital\'s manufacturing facility in Penang, Malaysia. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the implementation and assessment of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across the site to confirm adherence to regulatory standards and corporate requirements. Responsible for providing oversight to the maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) in line with ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards. Prepare and submit EHS reports to regulatory authorities and corporate leadership as required. Help to establish, track, communicate, and develop plans to achieve EHS performance goals. Complete root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address root basic causes and management system weak spots using industry-recognized cause analysis techniques. Collaborate with internal departments to integrate EHS considerations into operational processes, projects, and new initiatives. Spearhead sustainability initiatives, including the development and implementation of waste management practices, to promote environmental responsibility and align with corporate goals. Serve as the regulatory liaison for EHS matters. Exercise a leadership, coordination, and communication role with the location leadership to drive continuous EHS improvement. Lead and develop a team of EHS professionals, providing guidance, development, training, and performance evaluations. Qualifications Education / Experience / Knowledge: Bachelor\'s degree in environmental science, occupational health & safety, engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards Preferred: Registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) Strong understanding of Malaysian EHS regulations, standards, and industry practices Excellent communication skills in both Malay and English Work Experience Needed: Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in EHS management in a manufacturing environment or related industries, with 3 years ina management position Skills / Abilities: Strong Leadership: Capable of instilling a culture of safety and compliance. Excellent Strategic Planning Skills: Able to develop a comprehensive, effective, and measurable EHS strategy. Effective Communication: Proficient in both conveying critical information and listening to team input. Robust Oversight: Skilled at maintaining constant, vigilant oversight of the EHS programs. Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive in identifying challenges and reactive in solving them swiftly. Influential and Motivational: Effective at influencing and motivating team members at all levels of the organization. Up-to-date Knowledge: Continuously updates their expertise in EHS regulations and best practices. Talent Development: Excellent at identifying potential in team members and nurturing it to improve the overall effectiveness and success of the EHS program.
