The Imam serves as the spiritual leader of the mosque, guiding the community in religious matters, leading prayers and overseeing religious education. The Imam responsible for delivering sermons, leading congregational prayers, providing counselling and representing the mosque in interfaith activities and public events.
Key Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead the five (5) daily prayers and Jumu\'ah (Friday) prayers.
Deliver Khutbahs (sermons) that are relevant, informative and inspiring.
Conduct special prayers, including Taraweeh during Ramadan and Eid prayers.
Oversee the religious education programs including Quran classes and Islamic studies.
Provide guidance on Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) and answer religious queries from the community.
Offer spiritual and emotional counselling to community members on various personal and religious matters.
Conduct funeral services and provide support to bereaved families.
Collaborate with the mosque\'s board or committee on strategic planning and management of mosque operations.
Oversee the management of Musalla and other Surau facilities and ensure the are well-maintained.
Serve as the mosque\'s representative in the media and at public events.
Job Competence Profile:
Degree in Islamic Studies, Shariah or a related field from a recognized institution. Advanced studies in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) are preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role with demonstrable leadership and community engagement skills.
Profound knowledge of the Quran, Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence and religious practices. Understanding of the contemporary issues facing the Muslim community.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Arabic and the local language.
