About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented

Junior Microsoft SQL (MSSQL) Administrator

to join our IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will assist in the daily management, maintenance, and support of Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow into a senior-level database role with mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the

installation, configuration, and maintenance

of Microsoft SQL Server databases (2016, 2019, or later). Monitor database

health, performance, and availability

using built-in or third-party tools. Support database

backup and recovery operations

, ensuring data protection and availability. Help execute

database patches, upgrades, and migration activities

under supervision. Perform

basic performance tuning

and query optimization with guidance from senior DBAs. Manage database

security

, including user accounts, roles, and permissions. Work with development teams to support database-related application enhancements and troubleshooting. Document database procedures, configurations, and best practices. Participate in

on-call rotations

after training and competency development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

1-3 years of experience

in SQL Server administration or database support (internship experience acceptable). Basic understanding of

SQL Server architecture

,

T-SQL

, and relational database concepts. Familiarity with

backup, restore, and security management

in SQL Server. Experience with

Windows Server environments

and basic PowerShell or T-SQL scripting is an advantage. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Microsoft SQL certification (MCSA / Azure Database Fundamentals)

preferred but not required.
