Direct/Indirect Indicator: IndirectSummaryThe Senior Manager, Commercialization Services leads the design, development and implementation of commercialization solutions for electronics products. The primary objective of the commercialization team is to support product design optimization, and production process enhancements, to enable global manufacturing excellence.
A Commercialization Development Engineer may specialize in many areas, but they are generally familiar with various aspects of product release, categorized into Product Optimization (Design for X, VAVE, BOM risk, etc.), Product Launch (Requirements Generation, Certification, Strategic planning), Product Quality Control (Test Development and Inspection solutions), and Sustaining Engineering.Detailed DescriptionPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains.
• Develops project proposals, including scope details, assumptions, pricing, schedule commitment, commercial terms, etc.
• Creates or provides input to project plans, including scheduling, and resource planning.
• Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.)
• Reviews and interprets customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
• Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop deployment strategies and plans.
• Leads the deployment of strategic technologies/programs and coordinates global deployment efforts.
• May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
• Analyze industry trends and establishing strategies with global impact.
• Establish short term and long term investment and skill development strategies, and business cases for regional team, with global impact to organization.
• Develop production test strategies based on product design specification
• Project leadership for the development of commercialization solutions including, customer requirements assessment, strategic solutions development, production and/or customer site integration, solution qualification, and installation to meet product, quality and scope requirements outlined in the development plan.
• Provides regional leadership for Commercialization project activity in Asia, supported by engineering service teams located throughout an extended global network.
• Available to provide onsite project support (from time to time as needed) for Celestica production facilities and customer locations.
• Support execution of validation/qualification requirements by applying statistical and common industry methods
• Commercialization teams may also work with product design teams with feedback from product testability, manufacturability, assembly, automation, diagnosability, repairability, firmware/diagnostics and user experience.
• Keeping up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.
• Manages and/or leads teams of professionals providing engineering services from customer requirements/product concept through product obsolescence.
• Responsible for developing and implementing the technical direction for the Penang site Commercialization Engineering Services team. Drives Continuous improvement in team processes, skills and tools.
• Establishes and manages the departmental budgets, develops strategic planning objectives and communicates objectives to any subordinates.
• Monitors costs, operational expenses and personnel to achieve the goals of the departments.
• Set yearly plans and goals for the department, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback for employees. Accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators.
• Works with sales, marketing and customer to understand customer technical requirements.
• Interfaces with Design and Commercialization Services leadership, other Services sites, Business Development and Sales, to coordinate strategies and provide consistent and high quality solutions to global customer base.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• Engineering Foundational Competencies.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of Engineering Development and Service business model and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, on-time delivery and the profitability of the unit.
• Knowledge of Electronics Test Development Processes and Tools including, Design for Test Analysis, Structural Test (AOI, AXI, Flying Probe, ICT), Functional Test, and Environmental Stress Test.
• Awareness of Electronics Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly Processes and Tools.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of engineering design and development, testing, quality and production in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Broad knowledge of an electronic manufacturing environment, automation, materials and processes.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
• Ability to effectively lead, manage, coach, train and motivate a diverse group of employees to meet high levels of technical requirements within tight time deadlines.

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
• Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
• Occasional travel may be required.
