RESPONSIBILITIES

The Shariah Research function requires for the following:

• Performs in-depth research and studies on Shariah issues, including providing day-to-day provision of Shariah advice and consultancy to relevant parties, including those involved in the product development process(es).
• Other than that, if necessary, to seek advice and input from experts on technical matters to ensure comprehensiveness and completeness in ensuring sound understanding of the relevant concepts and approaches.

The Shariah Secretariat Officer shall be responsible with all matters regarding the administrative functions relating to the Shariah Committee including coordination of meetings, compiling of proposal papers, dissemination of Shariah decisions to relevant stakeholders and engagement with the relevant parties who wish to seek further deliberations of issues from the Shariah Committee.

The Shariah Committee may delegate some of its powers to the Shariah Secretariat Officer if the Shariah Committee decides so, given that the Shariah Secretariat Officer is a Shariah-qualified person.

If necessary, to undertake any other work or duties as assigned by the Head of Islamic Banking or to assist any other staff within Najmah and the Bank, as a whole.

Qualifications

• At least Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Shariah, which includes Usul Fiqh or Fiqh Muamalat from any recognized institution(s).
• Preferably minimum three (3) years of experience in job(s) relating to Islamic Banking/ Islamic Finance/ Fiqh Muamalat/ Fiqh/ Usul al-Fiqh and Shariah-based research.
• Proven Shariah research capabilities.
• Arabic and English language (both writing and speaking).
• To be able to use Microsoft Office, Word, Powerpoint and any other relevant application/platform at work to provide all relevant materials and inputs.
